When Sergei Yakupov, a Portugal-based media expert with extensive AI experience, launched the Startupt newsletter last year to share news and updates about the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, he was “puzzled” by the limited coverage available in English.

Most of his content at the time came from scraping the LinkedIn pages of individuals, organizations, and startups.

“But now, everything is changing for the better. I believe this year marks a turning point for startup coverage in Portugal,” Yakupov told Portugal Startup News.

“At least two dedicated English-language platforms have launched – Adamastor and Portugal Startup News – and this is exactly what the startup ecosystem needs. More coverage drives more inspiration, which leads to more innovation, collaboration, and global visibility.”

That’s why, after a hiatus, he decided to relaunch Startupt with a broader mission: to contribute more meaningfully and comprehensively to the evolution of Portugal’s startup community.

“The newest version of Startupt isn’t just a newsletter anymore. I realized that being merely a news aggregator doesn’t provide enough value to founders, investors, or anyone in the Portuguese startup ecosystem. That’s when the concept of a go-to resources index came about,” added Yakupov, who is also the founder of Novocean, specializing in tailored AI solutions and automation for content creation, distribution, and performance analysis.

The evolution into a multi-purpose platform

Startupt is a comprehensive website featuring several curated indexes: events, opportunities, tools, and programs that can be valuable for founders and industry professionals. All indexes are based on user-generated content, meaning anyone can contribute by adding events, tools, projects, and more.

The platform, set to officially launch on July 17, offers two distinct weekly newsletter formats, each serving a different purpose for its readers.

The regular newsletter is a comprehensive roundup of the past week’s news, paired with curated tools, events, opportunities, and other valuable resources. It also includes exclusive analytics and reports that provide added depth.

Then there’s the single-focus newsletter, a completely original edition featuring in-depth analysis, personal insights, and detailed reports. This newsletter exists only in email form, making it a unique and more intimate experience reserved exclusively for subscribers.

“This evolution transforms Startupt from a simple news aggregator into a comprehensive platform, a hub we hope will be useful for Portugal’s startup ecosystem,” Yakupov noted, inviting ecosystem players to submit their resources to the platform so that it can grow into an even more valuable community asset.
