Portugal’s Granter has been named the winner of this year’s Web Summit PITCH competition, selected from 2,725 startups and 105 finalists over three days.
Granter develops AI tools that help businesses identify and apply for public funding. Its flagship product, the AI Grant Consultant, automates the full grant process – from finding relevant opportunities to preparing, submitting, and managing applications.
The system is designed to act as an AI employee, learning from a company’s past projects, strategic goals, and financial information.
During Web Summit, held from November 10 to 13 in Lisbon, Granter also launched QuickMatch, a free AI tool designed to help companies instantly discover EU funding opportunities.
The company describes QuickMatch as a lighter, entry-level version of its core technology, aimed at removing early barriers for organizations that find the grant landscape difficult to navigate.
“We help companies find and apply for grants with AI. And we do it well,” CEO Bernardo Seixas said before the final pitch, as reported by Web Summit.
He added that they aim to expand across Europe next year, grow the team, and become the next Portuguese unicorn.
Nigeria’s VarsityScape and the UK’s SegmentStream were announced as runners-up.
VarsityScape uses AI to help educators and teams manage online academies, while SegmentStream provides an AI marketing platform that helps companies understand advertising performance and identify high-value customers.
PITCH is a central part of Web Summit’s startup program, offering founders global visibility, media exposure, and investor reach. Previous winners include Portugal’s Intuitivo, which supports schools in digitizing assessments, and Brazil’s Inspira, a company using AI to streamline the legal system.
