Portuguese edtech startup Intuitivo has raised €1.35 million in seed funding to expand into Brazil and further develop its digital platform, which helps teachers create, administer, and grade assessments while reducing administrative work and repetitive tasks.
According to a media statement, the funding round was led by Caixa Capital and the Impact Innovation Fund, managed by 3xP Global, under the Venture Capital Program of the Capitalisation and Resilience Fund (FdCR), managed by Banco Português de Fomento.
Techstars, COREangels Lisboa, and COREangels Porto also participated, alongside Angels Way, a Portuguese fund managed as a community of 436 small investors.
Founded in Porto in 2021, Intuitivo supports teachers throughout the assessment process, from preparing tests to providing student feedback. The new investment will also strengthen product development and allow the company to grow its team from 11 to 20 people by the end of 2026.
More than 500 schools in Portugal
Intuitivo has signed more than 200 contracts with municipalities, school clusters, and private schools in Portugal, covering more than 500 schools. The platform now counts 75,000 registered teachers.
During the 2025/26 school year alone, Portuguese students completed around one million assessments on the platform, representing an estimated saving of 165,000 hours of teachers’ working time.
The platform was developed together with teachers in response to their needs. A Facebook community of around 3,200 teachers receives early access to new features, tests them, and shares feedback.

João Guimarães, co-founder and CEO of Intuitivo, said the company was created in response to a teacher’s request.
“Our goal is simple: to give time back to those who teach, to use with their students or simply for themselves. We want to be the teacher’s best friend, the tool they turn to every day without thinking twice.”
How the platform works
Intuitivo supports several types of exercises, including multiple-choice questions, open responses, ordering, fill-in-the-blank exercises, tables, and true-or-false questions. Teachers can also integrate audio, video, musical notation, and scientific and mathematical formulas.
Using artificial intelligence, the platform generates draft tests based on a topic, year group, and difficulty level specified by the teacher. It can also convert existing PDF tests into interactive digital versions ready for automatic grading.
The platform includes a bank of thousands of exercises shared by other teachers, searchable by year, subject, and topic. Teachers can copy and edit these exercises or create groups to develop, share, and review assessments together.
Students access tests through a link without creating an account or installing software, using any device. Teachers can monitor progress in real time, and the platform includes mechanisms to prevent cheating and supports more than 80,000 students simultaneously.
Closed-response exercises are graded instantly, while AI-supported grading for open responses is planned for the 2026/27 school year. The platform also generates statistics by student, class, and exercise to identify areas of difficulty, with results and personalized comments delivered by email, PDF, or Excel.
Reducing teachers’ administrative workload
According to the OECD’s TALIS 2024 study, teachers in Portugal report working an average of 40.5 hours per week, of which 19.8 hours are spent teaching.
They spend an average of 6.9 hours per week grading students’ work, compared with the OECD average of 4.6 hours, alongside 7.4 hours preparing lessons and assessments. Excessive grading and administrative tasks are also among the main sources of stress reported by teachers.
Expansion into Brazil
With the new funding, Intuitivo plans to accelerate its expansion into Brazil, where it estimates a potential market of 2.2 million teachers, around 12 times the Portuguese market.
The company already has a team on the ground and some teachers in Brazil using its platform. The investment will allow it to strengthen its local presence.
“We are proud of the impact we already have on the teaching community, but we know it can go much further. This investment allows us to accelerate: to reach more teachers, save them more time and give them more and better insight into their students’ learning,” Guimarães said.
He described Brazil as a natural next step for the company, citing the shared language, the country’s more than two million teachers, and their adoption of digital tools.
Intuitivo, which supports teachers across all subjects from primary school to higher education, won the PITCH competition at Web Summit in 2024.
