Portuguese healthtech company Octo Health, which brings together medical records, laboratory results, and other health information in one place, has launched its personalized health tracking platform in Portugal and the United States, offering clinical testing for more than 110 biomarkers.
According to Jornal Económico, the launch comes after an earlier €2.7 million pre-seed funding round led by 3xP Global.
Founded in Lisbon in 2023, Octo Health is led by founder and CEO Catarina Kemper. The platform allows users to consolidate laboratory results, medical histories, diagnostic tests, and data from digital devices that would otherwise be scattered across different healthcare providers, laboratories, clinical portals, and applications.
The technology interprets this information in the context of each person’s medical history, tracks health indicators over time, and identifies relevant changes. It also provides personalized recommendations and action plans intended to complement rather than replace medical care.
Octo Health says users retain ownership of their health records, their personally identifiable data is not sold, and the platform is HIPAA compliant and GDPR ready.
Kemper said that although people are becoming more involved in managing their health, the information they need remains spread across different providers and applications.
“Having more data doesn’t necessarily mean understanding what’s relevant, what has changed, or what the next steps should be.”
She added that Octo Health wants to help people better understand their health in the context of their medical histories and have more informed conversations with their doctors.
Biomarker testing and personalized guidance
The platform covers 11 health areas, including cardiovascular health, metabolism, kidney function, hormones, and brain health.
According to the report, the technology is particularly relevant for athletes and people with chronic conditions or complex medical histories who need to manage information from multiple healthcare professionals and institutions.
Alongside its launch in Portugal and the United States, the company is developing integrations with personal monitoring devices and mechanisms for automated access to clinical records.
