Bloop, a Portuguese social commerce platform that combines online shopping with user-generated content and rewards, is expanding into Spain as it continues to scale its model of social-driven commerce.
With a team of marketplace veterans behind it, the company aims to turn everyday shopping into a participatory experience where discovery, sharing, and purchasing are closely connected.
According to Francisco Rodrigues, the company’s founder and CEO, the move into Spain reflects both strategic alignment and existing cross-border activity.

“Bloop was created with an international vision and the results in Portugal validated the potential of the model. Spain emerged naturally as the next step, not only because the Spanish consumer culture is particularly receptive to this type of model, but also because many of the sellers present on the platform already operate in this market”, he said in a statement cited by ECO.
Co-founder Luis Gestoso Muñoz noted that around 80% of Portuguese sellers already operate in Spain, while roughly 10% of active sellers on the platform are Spanish, describing it as evidence of organic demand that supports the expansion strategy.
A model built on sharing and incentives
Bloop’s platform is built around a loop where users discover products shared by others, post their own shopping experiences, and receive rewards based on the engagement and purchases generated through their content.
According to the company, users can earn up to 10% through sharing activity and up to 10% for each friend that shops through their publication.
The company describes this as a system where social interaction becomes a driver of commerce, while sellers benefit from what it calls “free viral marketing” powered by authentic recommendations and social proof.
Early traction in Portugal
Company-reported figures suggest early adoption in its home market. In its first six months of activity, Bloop reported more than 40,000 registered users, over 350,000 products available, and a network of more than 140 sellers. It also registered over €350,000 in gross merchandise value and more than 6,000 products sold.
Additionally, they reported that 55% of users posted reviews and recorded a 42% repeat order rate.
Bloop has raised €2 million to support its growth and international rollout. The company, as ECO reports, is registered in several markets, including Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, and Brazil.
