Motorola Solutions has acquired Portuguese AI startup DeepNeuronic, according to a report by ECO/eRadar. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2021 by Vasco Lopes and Bruno Degardin, DeepNeuronic specializes in software that uses AI to analyze video feeds in real time.
Its technology can work with existing cameras to interpret what is happening as footage is captured and turn that information into operational data that organizations can use while an incident is still unfolding, rather than only reconstructing what happened afterward.
The technology is already used across airports, bridges, highways, gas stations, industrial facilities, and commercial spaces.
In Portugal, DeepNeuronic’s technology is deployed by customers including operators of concessioned road infrastructure and manufacturing facilities.
The company also has a subsidiary in Brazil, where its software is used in mobility and security operations.
Following the acquisition, DeepNeuronic has become part of Motorola Solutions. Its technology will be integrated into Avigilon, Motorola Solutions’ video security platform, making it available to customers across more than 100 countries.
The acquisition comes as Motorola Solutions continues to expand its portfolio across critical communications, video security, and access control through acquisitions.
The acquisition has also resulted in DeepNeuronic’s 17-person team joining Motorola Solutions.
Lopes was quoted as saying that the team will remain based in Covilhã, with some employees continuing to work remotely, while joining Motorola Solutions’ global development network.
Based on the report, DeepNeuronic has raised more than €2.5 million from business angels and venture capital funds since its founding, while some of its projects have also received European funding.
