Lampsy Health has won Startup World Cup Portugal 2026 and will represent the country at the global grand finale in San Francisco in November, where it will compete for a $1 million investment prize awarded by Pegasus Tech Ventures.
The announcement was made following the national final held at Unicorn Factory Lisboa on June 18, where 11 startups presented their solutions to a jury through a five-minute pitch followed by a three-minute Q&A session.
The award was received on behalf of Lampsy Health by Vicente Mayer Garção, co-founder and CEO.
Lampsy has developed a discreet epilepsy monitoring device to provide an additional layer of safety for people living with epilepsy and their caregivers.
The system uses computer vision to detect movements associated with tonic-clonic seizures and can automatically alert emergency contacts through phone calls and real-time notifications sent via a mobile application.

The company says its technology was developed with neurologists and validated through clinical testing, achieving over 99% accuracy in detecting seizure-related movements, alongside a reduction in false alarms compared with alternative solutions.
Lampsy is designed for both adults and children from the age of two and is intended to complement, not replace, existing medical supervision and treatment.
Startup World Cup Portugal 2026 brought together 50 selected startups, with the final stage featuring 10 finalists and one additional startup selected from the 40 previously shortlisted companies.
The Portuguese edition was organized by Linhas Comunicação, Fasttrack Ventures, and Unicorn Factory Lisboa, with Caixa Capital as a strategic partner.
Caixa Capital has also reserved €1 million for a potential investment in one or two startups from the group of 50 participants, independently of the competition outcome and subject to due diligence.
